question on coarse abs. accuracy and mold manufacturing HELP

hello ProE users...

I´ve been assigned to work with a model that was generated with an abs accuracy of 0.037 mm, this value is coarse by many standards.

In spite of this I´ve been told to purse the project, the model can not be changed at this point and trying to increase the abs accuracy now causes many features to fail.The mold model and manufacturing files have inherited the same abs. accuracy value.

My question: what are the risks of manufacturing the the core and cavity with such abs. accuracy value? Will there be trouble when matching (inserting) the core into the cavity ?? Our CNC center has an accuracy of 0.001 mm

I think that the accuracy setting refers to computational accuracy, not geometry accuracy. I guess that one may effect the other, but the real result is that Pro|E just can't build certain geometry at certain accuracy levels. At lower levels, some features will regen differently, like rounds missing certain segments or features failing because pro|E can't calculate the result because the accuracy setting prevents it from completing the calculations.

So, the geometry you get won't be wrong, dimensionally, but it may different than it would be at a higher accuracy. Of course, if the one who created the model is satisfied, then your mold should be satisfactory as well.

Someone who understands his better than I do can clarify if I'm wrong.
