Machine tool kinematics

Machine tool kinematics

We are about to buy a 5x machine tool and therefore looking for a simulation solution. We have a light version of VERICUT that we should upgrade to full multiaxis solution. Other option is going to NCSIMUL, with some very good capabilities.

Before Pro/NC had the machine simulation option, i looked into the technique of creating separate NC files to drive mechanism connections. Does WF5 machine simulation work that way? It guess it is a time consuming and error prone technique.

Another solution we are looking at is Siemens NX cam solution. We are a bit disappointed of the lack of development of PTC NC solutions. We are succesfully running mill 3x, lathe and wire edm machines with Pro/NC but we think we should get another cam solution for multiaxis jobs.

Both NCSIMUL and Siemens can simulate multiaxis jobs, also they can simulate post processed files.

What do you think? Is anybody running Pro/NC and machine simulation? Anybody using VERICUT or NCSIMUL for multiaxis? Do you simulate NC files or post-processed files?
