Complex number handling

Complex number handling

Hello,

1)I would like to see complex number handling directly both in cartesian and polar coordinates. To be able to choose what system do you want the results shown, as if it were a unit.

2) I do not know it would be possible but in electrical engineering, we have apparent power, real power and reactive power all with different units. Could mathcad detect if a result is complex, then use apparent power units (VA, kVA, MVA), when the result is the imaginary part of a complex number reactive power units (var, kvar, Mvar). And if it is the real part, active power (W, kW, MW).

This has been looked at a couple of times in the forum over the last twelve months, can you confirm exactly what your after?

As Mike says, this has come up many times. Not just in the last 12 months though, but for years! See this fairly recent tread for the best current solution:

Hello,

I know that complex numbers in polar coordinates has been discussed and requested many times. I just wanted to add 1 vote to that request. I have seen the thread you sent me. I find it as a work around but not a final or fast way of working with polar coordinates.

As it is said in that thread, I would also like a built-in "unit" or similar so that I can enter complex numbers directly both in cartesian and polar coordinates and get results in both coordinate systems as well.
