Data and File Export in Mathcad Prime 8.0

1. Describe your environment: What is your industry? What is your role in your organization? Describe your stakeholders.
I am an engineer in the development department of a medical product manufacturer

2. What version of Mathcad are you currently running?
Mathcad Prime 8.0

3. Describe the problem you are trying to solve. Please include detailed documentation such as screenshots, images or video.

I often need data series, which I previously created in Mathcad15 as section-wise defined functions. In general, these are functions in the form F(X)=.......... with X=0,(1/N)......n, N=1023 (number of data rows) and n (any value from the physical boundary conditions).
The variables, as well as the function values, usually occur as fractional rational numbers. Up to now in Mathcad 15, there was the possibility to export a data series directly with the function "right mouse button" and "export" as CSV file. It did not matter in which numerical form the data was available.
This simple but efficient method to export data from a Mathcad Prime File does not exist (yet). Here it is mandatory to define the function via a matrix and to use e.g. the function "WRITECSV". In addition, the matrix definition does not accept fractional number formats, so that the data series must be redefined yet another time.
All in all an unsatisfactory way to export a data series quickly.
But maybe there will be an improvement soon in a patch or in a next version of Mathcad Prime.

Best wishes
Ralf

Ralf

4. What is the use case for your organization?

Export data series for servo application

5. What business value would your suggestion represent for your organization?
It is not possible to make a simple statement here, but there is certainly a considerable saving in time and therefore also in costs.
