Efficiency Contour plot in Mathcad

Efficiency Contour plot in Mathcad

Efficiency map.PNG

I want to create a contour plot of efficiency as indicated inthe figure

Currently, there is no facility in MATHCAD to create a contour plot within a specific boundary.

Where as mathcad creates contours for all the region of the plot by extrapolating from the input data points given.

Idea:

Apart from giving the x, y, and z values the user can provide the boundary points as well there by restricting the contour plot within the boundary.

the above plot was not created in mathcad. I was trying to create a similar plot using MATHCAD, and I came to know that there is no facility currently available.

There may be no facility in the plot options but you could create a function which sets all values outside the region to 0 or any other value. Unfortunately NaN won't work in 3D plots.

I tried to plot contour plot in MATHCAD with the same data.

The first figure shows the data points used.

The second figure shows the contour plot.

We can see that, even though i have not provided data in the unwanted regions, MATHCAD extrapolates and creates its own data.

Werner,

Why do not you vote?

The ability to set the max and min levels for contour plots is definately a needed feature. We have to add hidden rows to the data just to create a special 'max' and 'min' value so that plots have a standardised contour mapping and colour shading.
