Exponents and Units for ComboBox

Exponents and Units for ComboBox

The ComboBox of the current Prime version (7) does not permit to use exponents for values e.g. when entering values for thermal expansion coefficient like 24*10^-6 and it also does not recognize its unit which is one over Kelvin (1/K). Prime sees this as a calculation that is not accepted.

Therefore, to simplify input instead of having to use weird workarounds (PTC suggested to define a placeholder unit like: InvK to reflect 1/K) I'd like to see:

  • Possibility to enter values with exponents
  • Use all internationally accepted units in the ComboBox

I have the exact same problem when working with units of stiffness. I have to define the unit and then enter that label into the combo box.

It is a bit absurd that a high level math program cannot handle a combo box with N/mm or any unit of area for that matter!!Combo box 1.jpgCombo box 2.jpgCombo box 2a.jpgCombo box 3.jpg

Hi,

yes the Combo box is weird. It is as if PTC did on a hunch to fill a gap in their Prime features and did it "quick and dirty" to claim that Prime has this functionality.
