Improve navigation of large worksheets

Improve navigation of large worksheets

I work for a company where I use a large Mathcad Prime worksheet (+100 pages) and we really need a way to easier navigate this document. In Mathcad 15 there was a "Go to page"-button", I was hoping you could create something similar.

I think an obvious solution is making the current "page field" to a button. So when you press it, a dialog opens where you can type the page you want to jump to.

If you implement a Table of Contents section like in Microsoft Office then it would be nice to make those section titles in the TOC to hyperlinks so you can jump to a specific section.

Brilliant idea. I'm having the same issue.

I also like this idea. What about placing something like a bookmark, which I can give a name and jump to. Another thing to optimize would be to have a better coloring and size of the scroll button. The color is almost the same as the background and when the document gets bigger the button gets so small that it becomes hard to click on. There has to be more contrast and a minimum size limit. Just look how this is handled in a lot of other programs

Status changed to: Implementation In Progress

Hi there!

We're currently planning on adding go-to-page functionality in Prime 9.0. This will indeed utilize the current page number indicator in the bottom left of the application and will allow you to type a page number and instantly scroll to that page.

Many thanks for the suggestion!

Andy.

Hi Andy,

if you need more ideas, we have a lot of them.

I prefer the internal document links vs just jumping to a page number.  Many of my worksheets are 300 to 400 pages and in 15 I copy a "table of contents" set of links to the start of each section.  I can jump throughout these large worksheets with ease and speed.  Because I'm always adding more data, the page numbers would constantly change and I also have one worksheet for each model (meaning I have around 50 or so active, commonly used, several hundred page documents supporting our production), and I would never be able to remember all the page numbers.  I was hoping to retire before I had to relinquish version 15 but I still have 20 years or so.  There is such a following of die-hard, passionate, version 15 and earlier fans, why not reward their loyalty with implementing their beloved features?

Exactly my point!

Hi JEckhardt, Raiko,

Internal links (tags/references) are a favorite functionality of mine as well - I also would have liked to have had it in Prime by now, but we implement functionality prioritized based on customer feedback, and everything in the product up to this point has been higher priority. To put it in an earlier release we would have had to replace something we did put in. However, we're looking at possible implementation details now for internal links (how to tag a region to link to, what regions to link to, what scroll/focus behavior is needed, how to tag a region/text to link from), so I'm hoping to have more news on that area of functionality in the coming weeks.

Many thanks,

Andy.

@SAW_161173 Thanks for that!  25 year user and I just now learned about the fast scroll.

You're welcome
It's a pity, that this doesn't work in Prime anymore.
