Improvement of Prime converter tool, convert file with locked areas

Improvement of Prime converter tool, convert file with locked areas

The Mathcad Prime converter tool comes with a large flaw, the inability to convert Mathcad 15 calculation sheets with locked areas. As today all locked areas in Mathcad 15 sheets need to be unlocked manually and the sheet needs to be saved with the areas unlocked to be able to use the Mathcad Prime converter tool. Which means that all files which are Mathcad 15 and have locked areas are unavailable when the Mathcad 15 is outdated since the converter tool cannot convert them and Mathcad 15 is not available to unlock the areas.

I request you to improve the converter tool so that the password can be submitted into the converter tool and locked legacy sheets can be converted also after the end date of Mathcad 15.

I hope it doesn't take PTC another decade to rectify such an obvious flaw

I have thousand of sheets and in each sheet 100 pages of calculation with lock areas. I have to convert all data from 1995 to 2022 into mathcad prime. It is very wierd. Are these PTC guys have no work but to launch new version of mathcad and so many version. Too much reading and at the end there is no solution how lock area of mathcad 15 will be resolved..

Yep. Our company spent a lot of time and money converting our standard design calculations from excel files to Mathcad 15 years ago.  Now all those locked worksheets are unusable in Prime and everyone who may have known the password has left.

To be fair (despite Prime's shortcomings) PTC can't be blamed for the password issue.

Of course, now, the last wave of Mathcad 15 capable subscription license files are expiring and Mathcad 15 can't be run to unlock the locked collapsed areas.  The converter will not convert them, even if there is no password on the lock.

The Prime 7.0 converter fails in all kinds of ways for me, I don't have too many locked fields but this is yet another simple oversight or lack of testing, lack of caring about customers' complaints, whatever the case may be, PTC finally integrated a Converter into the 7.0 version (Prime 3 or 4 required a separate converter), but it still has a lot of flaws, some of which are devastating, having dozens of fields that crash for unknown reasons.

Have the programmers of prime ever used mathcad?

if they had, then they would recognise the fact that the use of locked areas is fundamental to the composition of calculation files!

The paradox is that because matcad 15 can no longer be used by the author of the document, it is impossible to open the file to remove the lock!

please sort this out as a priority 1

As above, this is a huge issue that needs addressing asap. As comments above mention, the original author has left the business and no passwords available.
