Mac Version of Mathcad

I am a physics instructor at a two-year college. All the computers in the Science Study Center at our school, are Macs. 65% of my students own Mac laptops. My home computer is a Mac. All of my physics colleagues use Macs. If my students could access Mathcad from the school computers, I would incorporate it into my classes in half a heartbeat.

I'm a mac owner as well. I use mathcad14 in windows 7 under bootcamp.

Sometimes when i have to check something quickly i use Parallels desktop to access my bootcamp windows in a virtualization environment.

A mac version is a major undertaking,

I would like to recommend Solution. It isn't Mathcad but it still is very good on the mac.

Many users use Mathcad on the Mac with PC emulation software. We don't officially endorse it since we have not tested it thoroughly, but I know that Mac users have been doing so for years.

As I have pointed out before, Mathcad Prime is based on the dotnet framework and the Fluent interface. i.e. it is based on Microsoft and Microsoft. So I can't say for sure what PTCs plans are, but a Mac version would not be an "evolution", it would be a total rewrite.

I am willing to grant this. Nevertheless, a total rewrite is not impossible; the UI may be .NET, but the underlying numerical methods codebase is doubtless generic C/C++.

And, Mathematica and Maple both have Mac versions that are very popular, along with their Windows versions (to say nothing of their Linux versions). Thus, I conclude there is a market for a Mac version of Mathcad. Surely PTC has the resources to hire a development team to write a Mac version.

.net apps can be ported using mono framework. which is essentially .net for linux and mac.

this is how Smath provides windows and linux version both using .net

Check the mono compatibility with MS.net and use the mono migration analyser to see how easy/difficult it will be for you port your .net apps to linux/mac

I wouldn't be too sure. I can imagine the majority of the resources have been tied up writing Prime.

I could make that same argument regarding going from Mathcad 15 to Mathcad Prime, and look how long that's taking.
