Mathcad Prime currently allows me to import another worksheet into the current one. I would like to also be able to designate an area of a worksheet to be "exported" or written out to a separate file (when the current worksheet is saved.) I could then import this "exported" worksheet into another worksheet for additional work.
I can currently read/write raw data to disk/excel, but this is unsatisfactory for a number of reasons.
For example, I could do something like this:
Worksheet 1: Define system geometry and loads of a truss. Calculate loads for joints in the truss. Write the calculated joint loads to worksheet 1x
Worksheets 2a-2z: Import worksheet 1x, define bolt pattern for joint a,b,c,... (one joint per sheet). Calculate bolt preload, check joint failure criteria. Export results summary to 2ax-2zx
Worksheet 3: Import worksheets 2ax-2zx as a summary report of design calculations.
1. Describe your environment: What is your industry? What is your role in your organization? Describe your stakeholders.
Machine design, engineering, engineers.
2. What version of Mathcad are you currently running?
Running Prime 7
3. Describe the problem you are trying to solve. Please include detailed documentation such as screenshots, images or video.
For a large project, I want to be able to divide calculations across multiple worksheets but keep design values synced across those worksheets.
4. What is the use case for your organization?
Improve MathCAD performance by only working on those parts of the problem that are interesting at the moment.
5. What business value would your suggestion represent for your organization?
Saved engineering time, allows team members to work on project calculations concurrently
