Scatter plot functionality

Well, let's just say that a blanket duplication of Excel's graphing capabilities is way overdue. My current MO is to run calculations in MC, and the port the results to Excel for graphing. If even the basics of the Excel scatter plot functionality were available in MC, that would simplify life considerably.

Is it no better having an Embedded Excel component within Mathcad to display the graph?

i don't have excel

if i'm going to use a component then it should be of gnuplot or R.

gnuplot is a charting guru and R is a Statistics guru and both are free.

if mathcad prime can out an gnuplot script for charts i'll be happy.

The only reason I suggested using an embedded Excel component was due to the graphing features available within Excel and the fact Eden was relating to his method of running his calculations in Mathcad and then porting the results to Excel for graphing.

The only reason you would usually use a component is to include features which Mathcad currently don't have or are poor. i.e Excel for results tables

You don't need excel to do excel plots, you need windows. Please check http://communities.ptc.com/docs/DOC-1393
