For a long matrix or vector today, even one pixel movement of the mouse pointer can scroll thousands of rows. This makes it often impossible to scroll to a desired position without first making a subset of the matrix with submatrix() and then scroll in the subset. Mcd 15 handled this very nicely (MS Excel also, as another example).
