Wake up worksheet

On occasions the worksheet locks up - the dot is green - nothing is happening  - you cannot edit the worksheet or move to another page or get the red cross to appear when clicking on the worksheet - it is obviously doing something - but it is not clear what. The workaround is to click on the M in the top left-hand side of the toolbar - this seems to take priority over whatever it is doing and returns worksheet control back to you.

A basic usability issue.

Hey Geoff - just after a little more information on this one.

When this situation occurs what size worksheet are you editing? Are you trying to edit any specific type of region? Does control of the worksheet return to you after a certain amount of time without having to click the App menu button?

Many thanks,

Andy.

Hi Andy,

I would say the events kick in once the programme gets above 2000MB. It is invariably when editing the worksheet in areas that should not provoke computation. Every part of the worksheet seems to go dead - only the M button seems to override whatever it is doing. I haven't spotted a pattern - it can happen where ever you are in the worksheet - maybe more near the middle of the worksheet - but as I use Prime for about 7 hours every day and it will happen about 5 times I will collect some statistics and record the events over the next few days. I will also see if does wake up without hitting the M button and record the time. Of course, now it's being watched it won't happen for weeks 🙂    !
Cheers

Hi Andy,

Brief update. I can still see no pattern other than it happens with large worksheets.  The new piece of info is that simply dragging the cursor off the worksheet to the windows lower menu bar and back also wakes up Prime.

Thanks

Geoff
