converting legacy files

I have legacy MathCAD files (.MCD) from the 2001 timeframe that I'd like to covert and use. If I can get converted, I will purchase the full license. Please help

As stated in article CS22570:

  • Mathcad Prime 7 and above converter utilizes the built-in Mathcad 15 engine
  • Converter is supposed to be applicable on any file which can be opened with Mathcad 15
  • Converted files can be retrieved with Mathcad Prime (7 and above) as normal

Validation: The 4 examples have all converted well.

Hi,

What version of Mathcad created the *.MCD files?

Prime 7 comes with a converter that converts Mathcad to Prime but you need to check the version of Mathcad is not too early?

To test this upload one of the mcd files and the converter can be tried and we can pdf the results so you can see it.

I honestly dont know the version. I havent coded MathCAD since 2001, so its its old. any way to tell from the MCD files?

Hi

The first line of the *.mcd has a code.

.MCAD 304020000 1 372 202 0

but I don't know how to decipher the code.

Best to try a file for you.

Cheers

Terry

Terry, I would be grateful if you would give the conversion a try. The converter does not install with the trial version of Prime.

If you don't have many files, you can attach them all in one archive here.

A .MCAD304 file is created by Mathcad (not Prime!) version 6.

I get the specific code 304020000 when saving from Mathcad 11 down to 6.

A file saved from native Mathcad 6 has 304000000.

Is it true that the Prime7 converter might not handle certain .mcd files because they're too 'old'?

I'd be curious to know. Attached are a few files to try out.
