Find attached a 3D stiffness analysis I have written in MC-15.
The analysis includes member local x beta rotations, member end releases and forced displacements.
It will analyse up to 1000 members and 500 joints.
The 3D graphics can show selected joints/members/properties/loads/supports with accompanying lists for checking purposes.
Given the limitations of plotting member end to member end, which can create false members, the plots of members are made using single points along the member. the density of which can be increased or decreased using sliders. This also allows for sectional plans and elevations to be viewed, again with the use of sliders. Note always push the reset button first as the Mathcad for some reason can sometimes already set the sliders away from the default position.
Joint equilibrium checks can be performed on any selected joint and the resulting data exported to Excel which can be used for joint calculations.
local selected member shear/bending and deflection plots can be shown with slide to give any of the values at any position on the member. Also, a 3D colour plot give visualisation of the stresses at that point in the cross section. Finally there worksheet can out put all results to excel provided a path and filename are input.
I have tried to keep the plots and output results in line with Staad Pro which was used for verification purposes. All loads are applied in the local member .axis system, so pay attention to member direction otherwise load directions can be reversed. Plots include the local axis or member shape (selected), if desired for checking purposes.
If a plot doesn't respond, right click to show argument, then hide them again and it should then update (some sort of bug in Mathcad wrt this).
Anyway, try it out and pls make any comments.
Hi,
This represents a lot of effort on your part.
Thank you for sharing.
Represents a job well done and a very useful worksheet.
Cheers
Terry..
Terry, Thanks.
It took a while.
Note that input angles, such as, member Beta and forced displacements, are in degrees (no units need to be added as it converts to radians).
Output angles are in mrad.
Let me know if you have any comments.
Mark.
Hello MN,
I dont have mathcad 15. when I try to convert it to Mathcad prime 9, i get an error message:
Thanks,
Sam
Hi Sam,
You wont be able to convert it even with the areas unlocked since Mathcad Prime is carp and doesn't allow many things Mathcad 15 does, for example. to reduce program lengths, Mathcad 15 allows a few lines to be consolidated to a single line using comma separators. There are many other differences too.
If you want to keep trying and it will take you a very very long time, you can unlock the hidden areas using MJN.
I also suggest you visit Eng-tips which may help.:

Good Luck......You will certainly need it if you want to continue using Prime.
Mark
Oh, and my latest version allows for the application of forced displacements. you will find this version at Eng-tips.
