Actually, it's not true. If you increase the display precision, the 9/10000000 turns out to be superfluous, because Mathcad is simply truncating the decimal.

One of the useful quick test for hand calculators:

0123456789 + 9876543210 = 9999999999

for ten digits displays.

There are other to full check the leds in the display filling it with 8's (including mantissa), but can't remember what it is.

If you increase the display precision to 15, it is clear that that 9/100000000 is required. The whole thing is just a rewrite of the old standby 9x12345679=111111111. That second term is what converts the written 89 to 90.
