Solved! Go to Solution.
demonstrate? What?
Why isn't
all that's needed to demonstrate this relationship between X and Y.
As an alternative you can use
According to simplify sqrt Y to X .... it gets boring to have to emphasize again and again that the symbolic capabilities of Mathcad 15 (and of Prime anyway) are far behind those of the top dogs.
And what would be the point of using some tricky combination of keywords to achieve the desired simplification?
BTW, Wolfram does a pretty good job IMHO
And you can be happy to be able to use Mathcad and not Prime!
Prime 10 refuses to solve the system for x and y and refuses to return a symbolic solution if just solving for x:

Many thanks, Werner. 😊😊. Following your hint, I got :
And Mathcad also does a pretty good job for simplifying with a bit of help of "by hand" :

Problem is that you have to already know the desired result and Mathcad can only confirm the equality - but at least its capable to do so.
