I recently installed Mathcad Prime 9. I had been using Prime 8 for a while. I have some files created with Mathcad 15 files (xmcd) that I need to convert to the new mcdx format but the conversion utility is taking a very long time to do the conversion. It's been on "In Progress" for almost an hour on the first file. I don't recall this being such a problem with earlier versions (Prime 7 and Prime 8). Please help!
Solved! Go to Solution.
It looks like the solution was to NOT use the button in Mathcad Prime 9 but rather to run the converter program from the Start menu (Start->PTC Mathcad->PTC Mathcad Prime 9.0.0.0 XMCD MCD Converter.exe. The file conversions were done in a matter of seconds.

One hour for converting a single file sure is quite unusual.
Can't compare to P7 or P8 as I skipped versions 7 and 8 (no big loss given the slow development speed of Prime). Also I have not converted a lot of files with P6 or P9 as I still use the faster and more powerful and convenient MC15.
But the files I converted so far took a few minutes at most to get converted.
Is it an especially long and complex MC15 file you tried to convert? If you can post it here I give it a try with P9.

Strange! In my (limited) experience, there was no noticeable difference whether the conversion was initiated from within the program or the converter was called directly.
Maybe it might be worth considering trying a clean re-install of Prime.
