Mathcad prime 5 chart component working with units

Hello, I just have installed the new mathcad prime 5.0 and now I am wondering why the new chart component option can't hande units?? The whole program is made for calculating with units.

So my question? Are there any posibilities to work with units in the chart box insteed of dividing the unit?

Thank you

Yous Simon

PTC have proven their incompetence / unwillingness to develop Prime as a worthy successor of Mathcad so often for a very long time now.

The third party plot tool which they implemented in P5 is just one additional puzzle stone. It can't handle units and apart from max and min values of the axis nothing (stepwidth, color, ...) can be dynamically controlled from within Mathcad but has to be set manually. Not to speak about the slow reaction of that component and overall bad integration, that it can't be used with a 4K display, etc, etc.

The new P5 diagrams were discussed in this forum quite a few times, as an example see here: https://community.ptc.com/t5/PTC-Mathcad/Mathcad-Prime-5-0-Chart-Tool-is-turning-out-to-be-a-big-MESS/m-p/570052#M182251

It has shown very soon that Mathcad has reached its end point when it was bought by PTC and that we have not to expect any real improvements or development, but most long term users like me did not want it be true and still believed in a miracle.

This miracle will not happen and so all we can do is look for other software to do our work with. Sad story.

Thank you for your answer!

Yes thats very dissapointing. Also because I have bought the new version in hope that they have improved the charts.

Werner's observation is sad but true. But there's another reason for this reply.

Apparently you had difficulty installing Prime 5, according: https://community.ptc.com/t5/PTC-Mathcad/MathCAD-5-0-install-problem/td-p/578589.

Now it seems that you've managed to solve, or circumvent that problem.

Would you care to tell the community what you did, or did not, do to get Prime 5 installed after your initial problems?. It might help other users with the same problem. Please use (a reply on) this thread: https://community.ptc.com/t5/PTC-Mathcad/MathCAD-5-0-install-problem/td-p/578589.

Success!

P.S. I hope you are aware that with each licence of Prime, you are also entitled to install, license and use Mathcad 15. That's a predecessor which, in many respects, has NOT been surpassed by any version of Prime. It's much much faster, has better graphing capabilities, especially concerning 3D graphing.

Yes now mathcad prime 5.0 works. I postet my solution in reply to my post in this threat  https://community.ptc.com/t5/PTC-Mathcad/MathCAD-5-0-install-problem/td-p/578589. But I don't know if that way works for everone...

And, thanks a lot for the hint with mathcad 15. I will take a look on it 🙂

"I postet my solution in reply to my post in this threat":

Careful what you write. There is a huge difference between 'thread' and 'threat'.

But I guess you mean no harm Smiley Happy
