Print Preview Crash

Print Preview Crash

I just upgraded to V14.

I am also seeing the Print Preview crash.

New file, couple of equations, no problem.
Add one line of text and it crashes. It
does give a couple of error messages about
memory access.

On an older, bigger file, it crashes and
closes the window quickly, no error messages.

New Dell 630, 4GB RAM
Intel graphics, external display.

Please put me on the list.

This is a bug that affects some people and not others. We are aware of the problem, and the fix should be in the next maintenance (service) release for Mathcad 14.0. I do not have a date for that release as of yet.

I'm a little late in posting to this thread, but it appears that the Print Preview Crash is similar to the problem I posted under "Ongoing Problem with Mathcad 14." In my case, the File menu will not drop down. When I click on the File menu, Mathcad 14 says, "An invalid argument was encountered." I can access all the File menu choices from the Standard Toolbar except for Print Preview. When I select Print Preview from the Standard Toolbar, Mathcad quits.

This behavior has persisted through maintenance releases M010 and M011 on both of the machines on which I have Mathcad 14 installed.

This is (now) a known microsoft (yes, bill gates) problem. There are reports on the microsoft site detailing the issue. search here for the links.

Obviously it is a Microsoft problem, and I said that at the very beginning. But it seems from other threads that "the Mathcad team" will fix in the next update ... that implies that when Microsoft will have fixed their bug, "the Mathcad team" will have to unfix the fix .

It's slightly more complicated that that. If I read the microsoft stuff correctly, it is part embedded in the microsoft compiler, so when MS correct the compiler the re-compiled mathcad (the new/next release) will then work OK, and will avoid the known/potential problems in the MFC dlls as well.

It needs a fix on both sides.
