Can someone help converting the attached xmcd files to MCDX (mathcad prime 8.0 format)?
Why don't you do it yourself. If you have (a fully licensed version of) Prime 8, you should be able to.
In case the conversion option is greyed out in the menu for you, you probably forgot to tick that option in the installation. It's unticked by default, nobody knows why....
If this is your case, simple re-install the program, and tick that box along the way.
But anyway, see attached.

That's strange. I remember seeing somewhere that it is no longer required to have Mathcad 15 installed i nthe machine for the conversion from M15 to Prime to work.

Correct, starting with Prime 7 its not necessary to have Mathcad 15 installed but you must check the installation of the converter when you install Prime (as VladimirN had shown) as its unchecked by default.
