my question is focused on Page#39 of the book "chemical kinetics with mathcad and maple".
for the 1st row of the stoichiometric matrix, I think that the second element should be -1 instead of 1

Thank you. Indeed, in the book there is a error in the stoichiometric matrix. You're right.
However, I do not recommend using chemical notation in symbolic calculations. Sometimes this leads to an error in Mathcad 11/13/14/15.
