can any one help me please

I want to create a while loop to calculate the right compression depth ( a ) then calculate the right area of steel ( As)

then  Revise a then As

until the tensile force = compression ( 0.85 fc a b ) = As fy

thank you

Send please your Mathcad-sheet!

Step #1:  Select the "use the advanced editor" tab in the top right corner of this window.  This will create an "attach" icon in the lower right corner (where "Mention" is now.)  Attach your sheet as Valery has requested.

Step#2:  Read the help section on solve blocks.  Mathcad has built-in tools that make most while and/or programming exercises avoidable.

I want the area of steel As

change while a is changing , until the value (a) satisfy the condition

thank you very much

This sheet is version 3.1.

Many of us cannot open it.  Can you create a PDF file and post that?  Or another viewable version?

Here's his approach and my proposed solution.

Good approach.

Symbolics shows two solutions:

It was not specifically stated, but the variable "a" must be less than "d."

Therefore, the first solution found by symbolics is not valid.

"d" is the depth of a reinforced concrete beam.  "a" is the depth of the beam assumed to be in compression.

"a" is probably always less than d/2, but I'm not sure about that.

Good answer!

The difference between understating the problem and working with the math.
