No!

I'm not even sure if PTC are intending to include this in future releases.

Yes, in a future release we will include the ability to change the background of a region or page, as well as put a border around a region or area.

2018...still waiting for that background colour option!

They're gaining on it!

You now have the option to set the plot color to the page color, transparent, or white.  Now, if they can only figure out where to put the "page color" option. . . .

2022, still waiting... 💀

2025, still waiting... 💀

The custom colour picker Andy described did actually happen in Prime 9; it just doesn't apply to the page's background colour (nor did he say it would).

Region border that Mona described in 2011 will happen in Mathcad Prime 11, though from what I just heard, it's similar to "show frame" as currently implemented in that you only get one border variation with no colour customisability.

There's still no word on changing Prime's page background colour.

I manage the Creo and PTC Mathcad YouTube channels for PTC, as well as all PTC Mathcad marketing in general.

Indeed not. Inside Mathcad it is not that important, but when you have to use screen capture from Mathcad in some other type of document, the default background color is really ugly.

There is one area—if you'll pardon the forthcoming pun—where a background colour would be beneficial: distinguishing between the main worksheet and an Area.  I've been caught out a couple of times by not realising that I'm editing stuff in an Area and end up wondering why some seemingly innocuous section operation has lit up the whole screen.  For a user who's copied an Area from somebody else's worksheet, the ability to readily distinguish "home-grown" and "external" worksheets might be quite important.

If we ever get nested Areas, being able to set the background colour would be even more helpful.

Has this happened in Prime 7?

Nope, maybe it is planned for Prime 9 3/4.

There is a work-around though.

You can make a text block, the size of your page, fill it with tabs and set the background colour for that block. Now you can move your equations onto that text block and they can even have their own background colour.

It also helps to suppress the ugly page-spanning 'watermark' in Prime express.

But it makes adding and editing equations a bit of a challenge...

Better wait for Prime 9 3/4.

Success!

we're closing in on 15 years of waiting for (dark mode) color options... if it weren't for my visual impairment, I would have given up on this more than a decade ago... 😭

Cheer for clearing that up Mona. I must say I have never needed to change the background color, but do occasionally use the border around regions functions.
