Is there a Mathcad dll for reading .fits files? If you know of such a capability please let me know.

With what program associated this format of files (".fits")?

Its an image format (FITS = Flexible Image Transport System). Quite common at but not restricted to Astronomy.

Can be open by programs like Gimp, Irfanview, Photoshop, but also Mathematica. I'm not sure about Matlab.

Bad luck for the original poster, Eugene, as Mathcad can't read FITS out of the box and it doesn't seem that somebody had already written a DLL for doing so (if thats possible at all):
