.xmcd to .mcdx conversion

Can someone please convert this attached .xmcd file to .mcdx for me? I switched from Mathcad 15 to prime 3.0 but the student license we have doesn't give us the converter feature on Prime 3.0.

Many thanks,

Jay

Its not a limitation of the student edition of Prime.

To be able to convert files from legacy format to Prime format you must have a full version of Mathcad 15 installed on your machine. Mathcad 15 will happily run if you point it to the license file you created when you installed Prime.

You can download Mathcad 15 here:

http://download.ptc.com/products/mathcad/trial/mc15/Mathcad15_EN.zip
https://www.ptc.com/-/media/Files/Docs/Mathcad/Mathcad15-EN.zip

I can't do the conversion for you as I don't have Prime 3 installed and newer versions of prime can't save in older versions format and so your prime 3 would not be able to open the file I converted.

I see, thank you Werner for sorting it out!

I'll just take this opportunity to remind everyone of the workaround - that occasionally works.

You can upload here Mathcad worksheets for converting in Mathcad Prime 3.0.

Thank you for replying Vladimir, I was able to acquire it by having installed mathcad 15 and prime 3.0 at the same time. A bit illogical, but meh it worked! haha

Ok.

Hie Valadimir,

Please find teh attachment to convert the file so that it can be useful to me, if you don't mind.

Thank you!!!

Regards,

Abhijeet

Please find it in attachment (for Mathcad Prime 3.1 version).

thank you once again

You're welcome.

Hello Good day

Can you convert this xcmd file to a file that i can use in Mathcad express 6.0. I have tried a student version mathcad 15, but it still is not being able to convert. So kindly help me out. It would be a big help.

Thank you.

Prime still is missing a lot of features available in real Mathcad. Your MC15 file uses a data table to define the input data and Prime does not support that kind of data (ridiculously the region is converted to a useless picture).
As you have MC15 student you can open the MC15 file yourself and find another way to define the data. You may either use a large vector (not easy with a 12000+ elements vector) in a collapsed region or write the data to a file with MC15 and read it in with Prime. Another option would be an embedded Excel component. Sure all those methods sure are more cumbersome and less efficient compared to Mathcads data table.

As you have access to a students version of Mathcad 15 and so can use all the power of it, do you have a specific reason why you would want to use mediocre Prime?

The message overview in this forum claims that the latest answer in this thread is from user "DJF" seven hours ago, but when I open this thread no answer by "DJF" is shown, the lastest being by "helsing" which I am replying to.

The student version I have is a trail version and would soon in 25 days will be obsolete. So to finish my project i need the tool for atleast 3 more months. Since  i read prime is still functional after trial month. I thought it'd be wise to convert to that format.

Bad news - Prime Express will not support some of the functions in your Mathcad file.

For example "cfft" is considered a premium function and is not available in Prime Express. Ridiculously even "mean" is classified as "Premium" an not available. The functions defined in the collapsed area at the top (they are not used in your sheet so far) will not work in Express, too, because programming is - you guessed it - a premium feature.
The embedded Excel-component in your second file also is a premium feature not available in Prime Express.

So after your trial period when Prime falls back in its limited Express mode, you file will not work. When you open it you will see the results of the last evaluations before the last save, but as soon as you try to change something, the sheet will fail.

As written above the converted file which @VladimirN kindly provided is not functional (not even in regular Prime) because the data is missing. The convenient data table in MC15 is converted to just a picture and so the data is missing.
For whatever its worth I exported the data to an Excel file which I attach here.

You may put the statement

Data:=READEXCEL("D:\DataFile.xlsx")

(you will have to change the path to the file as needed) in the converted Prime file at the position where the picture of the data table is.

Some functions which are considered "premium" can be rewritten so you have a replacement for them in Express. "mean" can easily be redefined that way:

I am not sure about a replacement for "cfft". @LucMeekes  generously has posted a clever set of function replacements which work in Express a while ago here

https://community.ptc.com/t5/PTC-Mathcad/Prime-Express-A-joke/m-p/657820/highlight/true#M189415

I am not sure about "cfft" - you'll have to look through his collection to find out if you find something you can use.

Good Luck!

I haven't been able to do FFT's in Express as a function, but you can still do them vector to vector:

Hi all

apologies for high jacking the post but i) I'm new to MathCAD and ii) I've been trying to convert an xmcd file to the new format for MathCAD 6.0 prime. basically the convert button is not accessible on my MathCAD(un-clickable). I have uploaded the xmcd file I'd likew to convert. if anyone has time for that i'd be grateful!

Instead of waiting for someone to convert it for you, you can do the conversion yourself.

Note that in order to convert you MUST have Mathcad 15 installed on the same PC that you installled Prime on. You can license your Mathcad 15 with the very same license file that you used for licensing Prime.

For further information see here:https://community.ptc.com/t5/PTC-Mathcad-Installation/XMCD-MCD-Converter/m-p/712119#M211

Success!
Luc

(Oh, and I cannot convert it for you, becasue I don't have a license for Prime.)

no problem - and i was not being idle waiting for someone to convert - as I found how to do it in the meantime - yes I needed mathCAD15. I thought of sending a thread in case i was not successful (I had several attempts) was a good idea to progress. anyway all good now. thanks.

Please find it in attachment.

many thanks VladimirN!! awesome.

You're welcome.

With Prime 7 you should be able to convert the file yourself....

Anyway, it's attached.
