I have had this before, but today I look at the main Creo Parametric Community page & see that I have 4 unread post:
https://community.ptc.com/t5/Creo-Parametric/ct-p/creoparametric
But when I check the sub-page, the posts on not in the top (4) pages. Here is a sample of the first page:
Why wouldn't an unread post bubble up to the top of the list? At least until it is read.
@Dale_Rosema Most users probably have thousands of unread posts since we have posts going back many years. There is an option to "Mark all as Read", but most newer members would not be aware of that, so having unread posts bubble up to the top wouldn't be very effective in most cases.
We did recently add a link to the unread post page to the category page. Re: Community Member Profile Updates - PTC Community
So I go through the "Unread Discussions";
Yet the "4" is still there. Is there a limit on how far back it looks for unread discussions?
Try selecting "posts" and see if that works. I think "Discussions" is only going to show new topics you haven't seen before and the 4 new are probably replies to topics you've already seen.
That did not.
Ok I will look into this and figure out what is going on.
Try selecting options at the top of the page then "Mark all post in Community Read"
I know about that option, I have done it in the past. This time I was trying to get to the 4 post to see what they are and if it was possible to find them and why they showed up anyway.
When a post gets moved from one forum to another does an "invisible" unread message get recorded somehow?
Just asking because I had some "unread" posts that I couldn't find each time it was shortly after I had flagged a posts to be moved from one forum to another.
I think moved posts are treated as new in the destination forum.
That I understand, but I saw 3 new posts. After I read the moved post (post and 1 comment), There was still 1 unread post that I couldn't find.
Happened twice today, so I thought maybe there was something in the background.
I was having trouble reproducing what you were seeing with new posts vs the unread post page. Seems like you may be on the right track. I will investigate further and see if I can pin down what's happening.
Did these two post get moved to the 3D Part & Assembly Forum?
There was one "new" post of the first and "eight" on the second and after reading them, I still have nine unread posts? Just curious.
I'll let Andy chime in on the details. Simply to say that I moved second topic with its 8 posts, I think ("Do the QC...") to 3D Part from the idea board. Then I left a comment once published.
I had 18 unread initially and after reviewing the post, still had nine.
I just refreshed and the nine unread were gone (without finding them).
Hi @Dale_Rosema, I've done a little experimenting and I'm still not really able to reproduce what you were initially seeing. I did see there is a short delay after you move a post where it shows as new on the category page but does not show up on the unread discussions page, but that is very brief (probably less than a minute).
As far as the 18 unread you saw today. Were you seeing that as "new" posts on the category page?
This is where I see the number of "unread" posts:
Can you tell I read most posts via email and not on the website? 😂
