UPDATE
When pasting a link to the PTC Help Center, the link is being modified and Google Analytics parameters are being added (_ga=xxxxx). This results in a 404.
Old message
Whenever I paste a link to a website, that link is being modified when I hit "Post".
www.google.com (open this link and look at what is added after the .com)
"&_ga=2.97537119.1141601435.1508137266-115588072.1484289270" is being added after the link, which results in a dead link (404 - Sorry, page not found)
https://stackoverflow.com/ (no garbage is added)
https://www.ptc.com/ (garbage is added)
This is a serious issue, please fix this ASAP!
Just testing the same link without the added stuff to see if it adds it on mine too.
And?
(When I used your link, garbage was added, and a 404 was shown)
So now trying chorme instead of IE. Grasping at straws here.
Tom's links in this post are working. (also testing an internal community link)
It looks like the garbage is being added when you refer to a PTC website (like the Creo Help Center)
Well that's not a very good marketing technique! Drive users to other websites for information!!
A shot in the dark...
The links which get the garbage contain "ga=xxxxxx"
Is this a reference to Google Analytics?
I think I am on to something...
Sure looks like it.
Hi, Everyone,
Just found out from our GA team that this issue is now resolved! Please let me know if you encounter any more examples. Thank you for bringing to our attention!
Jaime Lee
I clicked on a ptc help link in another post and it gave me the same garbage.
Oddly enough, that same link in my email notification worked just fine.
@Jaime_Lee needs to help with this.
PTC links are still be added to as of today!
I raised this issue back in September. It would appear it still hasn't been resolved.
