Data security is not a new problem, companies face significant challenges in traditional environments when trying to protect critical intellectual property and sensitive customer or employee information. IoT presents different challenges, unlike the traditional enterprise, information is typically travelling on untrusted networks, and through a range of different business partners and ecosystems. To take advantage of the key benefits of IoT- scale and speed - we need to think about data security differently. Security has to be delivered as close to the creation of data as possible and policy needs to be applied so that different parts of the ecosystem can access the information they need without compromising the data payload. In addition to the data problem, we need to be sure that our applications are communicating with the right devices - device identity and integrity is a key component of a secure IoT platform. Many of the current security challenges we see today are as a result of unauthorized access to networks and devices. This session discuss the unique challenges that organizations face in securing both data and devices for the IoT. The panelists covered off the common attack vectors and look at ways that companies can drive strong customer value by enabling secure transfer of data throughout the IoT ecosystem.
