Best Practice

I would like to get my pupils in the very best habits from the outset as they start to use ProEngineer WF3/4. a) what do you see as the key elements of best practice in the use of CAD. b) Is there documentation or standards specifying best practice for the use of CAD.

Hi Steven, I would look at the web-based training courses host on the educational offering of PTC University - http://schools.ptculms.com This site contains several courses on Pro/E from modeling and assembly to Detailing and mechanisms. You and your students can register for this site. Once registered, you can click the online courses form the left hand menu and choose the desired course. Each course, includes hands-on demonstrations, lectures and videos. This will showcase the proper techniques for all aspects of Pro/E. In the meantime, I will see if there are document available for the best practices you seek. Thanks, Mark Fischer Director - PTC Education

Hi Mark Many thanks for your post - I have just registered and look forward to receiving any documentation.

Hi Mark I followed your advice and signed up for the PTC uni - but have not heard anything - no email confirming log on details. Is there a reason for this? Steve

Hi Steve, Your account has been approved....you should be all set. Mark

Hi Mark Many thanks - I am now able to use the PTC Uni. I am also using a the book Pro/Engineer Wildfire 4.0 by Louis Gary Lamit - it does contain some mention of best practice eg "it is considered good practice to rename the coordinate system to something similar to the name of the component". It is this sort of 'best practice' information that I am searching for to guide my students. Again Many thanks Steve
