Creo 10 Student Edition crashes for standard users

Hi there,

I have a problem with Creo 10 educational version. After installing, when I run the program it crashes without any warnings during startup. But if I run the program in elevated mode (Run as administrator) everything works fine?! Now, the problem is that several of us share the same computer as standard users (accounts without administrative privileges). Unfortunately, Creo 10 won't start without administrator privileges.

Previous versions of Creo (e.g., Creo 9) did not have any issues with respect to running in standard mode.

I have tried installing Creo 10 w/wo the option 'Run as Administrator'. The installation goes well in both cases. But still, I cannot run the program as a standard user. Can someone please help and tell me what am I doing wrong?

Hi,

try installing Creo using following procedure.

  • login Admin
  • uninstall Creo and all related software components (Creo Platform Agent, Quality Agent)
  • create C:\PTC directory
  • set Everyone=Full Access rights for C:\PTC directory and its files and subdirectories
  • create C:\PTC\Creo10 directory
  • install Creo into C:\PTC\Creo10 directory
  • create C:\PTC\Creo10_data directory
  • logoff Admin
  • login standardUser
  • on Desktop create shortcut for parametric.exe file and set C:\PTC\Creo10_data as Start in directory
  • start Creo
