Hi all
I've just downloaded (for £185ish) the student premium version of Creo 3.0, but it doesn't seem to offer either the NC milling or injection moulding processes that I actually need for uni. I'm curious if it's maybe just an error I've made during installation or if it actually doesn't offer 80% of the functionality that students need?
Thanks for any help...

Solved! Go to Solution.
Hi,
if you go to PTC Webstore and activate Key features tab, then you will see contents of the Premium license. NC manufacturing and Mold is not present.
MH
Hi,
did you check your license file, if it contains needed modules. Please publish picture of contents of your license file.
MH
Thanks for the quick reply Martin
I'm not really sure what to look for, but this is what's in the downloaded file:
If you can point me in the right direction I'll have a look for whatever you need to know...
For example we need the mold cavity option which is grayed out here, which is basically an entire module for uni which I can't do at home:
Thanks again

Hi,
1st picture ... installation media
2nd picture ... File > New dialog box
None of pictures contain licensing information. I guess that you received license file via email. The file is somewhere on your disc, its name is something like *license.dat.
To see modules included in your license, you can click File > Help > System information and scroll the output (this sequence is valid for Creo 2.0). You will see something like this:
MH
Hi Martin
Here's what the license says:
It does say Education Edition, which I though was different to the Academic version? So when I bought Student Premium I hoped it would be a full program, the sales woman said she didn't know either but if it has to be paid for it's usually a short term full version. Or where it says License Name: CREOPMA_StudentP3 does that mean Student Premium?
I'm guessing then I need MOLD_ANALYSIS full and also whatever the CNC functions are called?
Thanks again
Calum
Hi,
look at the following picture...
The picture says that your installation uses two license files located in C:\ProgramData\PTC\Licensing directory.
Please open them in Notepad, we need to locate lines beginning with INCREMENT keyword.
Maybe BW*license.dat contains Premium license. If this is true then you will need to modify parametric.psf file to use info from this file.
Two important lines in parametric.psf file are:
ENV=PTC_D_LICENSE_FILE-=path_to_licence_file
ENV=CREOPMA_FEATURE_NAME=Creo_License_name ()
MH
Hi Martin, I hadn't realized you'd replied already so I'm sorry for the delay!
These are all the INCREMENT bits I can see, the first 3 are from the BK*license.dat and the rest from BW*license.dat.

Where would I find parametric.psf? Even a search doesn't bring that file up???
Thanks again
Calum
Hi,
1.]
BK*license.dat is not valid any more, because licenses expired on 20-oct-2016
2.]
BW*license.dat licenses are valid until 26-oct-2017
3.]
parametric.psf is located in C:\Program Files\PTC\Creo 3.0\Mxxx\Parametric\bin directory by default (I hope)
4.]
Your parametric.psf file should contain:
ENV=PTC_D_LICENSE_FILE-=C:\ProgramData\PTC\Licensing\BW400503ED1165-QFHV-DRRX_license.dat
ENV=CREOPMA_FEATURE_NAME=CREOPMA_StudentP3 ()
5.]
CREOPMA_StudentP3 license contains following modules
LO=(0,6,7,10,17,19,32,34,40,45,48,51,61,63,66,69,71,73,97,106,115,127,128,136,137,155,158,188,191,275,277,278,283,325,326,336,347)
You can find translation of numbers into names in license.res file located in C:\Program Files\PTC\Creo 3.0\Mxxx\Common Files\text\licensing directory
Instead of looking into this file, you can click File > Help > System information

Hi,
if you go to PTC Webstore and activate Key features tab, then you will see contents of the Premium license. NC manufacturing and Mold is not present.

Hi Martin
Disappointing that the $200 student premium version of the software doesn't allow for 75% of the work we need at university!
Thanks for all your help though.
