Bought a copy of the student edition of Creo Elements/Pro Student Edition yesterday and cannot get past 2%. I have emailed - and had no reply. Is there a link to the full dvd rip?
I needed this up and running yesterday and am already wasting another day trying to get it to work. Please help.
Hi Martin,
I could try direct wiring my laptop or desktop to the DSL router instead of using a wifi connection or getting a 3.5GB image file. Been notified by the reseller that I'm getting a refund, so will no longer try to install Wildfire 5.0.
Thanks for your assistance. You been very helpful and patient.
Thanks again,
Jonas
I am stuck too ..... Looks like PTC has still not got a way around that problem..................
will try the dvd d/l option tonight and check whether that works....
BTW that link should work for Creo pro individual licence right ??

Manas
I am having the same problem. I got my license file, etc. and started the installer. It hangs at 1% on the Copy Files indicator (it indicates 100% Download Progress). I checked the data throughput on my Internet link and it was virtually non-existant (my connection works just fine for everything else and I can sustain > 10Mbps downloads if a server can feed it to me at that speed). This certainly appears to be a problem on PTC's end. I will cancel and download the image that the link has been posted to. Sigh, not an auspicious start to my first experience with PTC products.
Update: Downloaded the DVD image pointed to by the link provided (took about 2 hours), unzipped it, made a DVD, installed it from there and it worked fine. FYI.
I just purchased the creo elements/student on July 7th and I am experiencing the same problem. I have tried several times; but PTC setup freezes at 1% or 2% everytime during the final stage while copying files. I have disabled my security suite, made sure I enabled cookies and did everything the installation guide says I should do but I get the same result each time. I have been emailing - for the past 3-4 days; it looks as if they are on a long vacation at the beach somewhere and are not responding to emails. There is no phone contact for them and I wonder what the purpose of - is if they hide away from and can't do what they are paid to do? This is not the first ptc product I've had. I first purchased the student version of proE in 2001 when they have proE and Mechanica on CDs that you must insert in your computer before you can use the program. Even though it is now "dinasaur" and cumbersome inserting and removing the CDs to use the program, the program worked beautifully and that was when I fell in love with Pro E. In 2001, PTC had a great software and a great customer care team to go with it because I could contact PTC in 2001 when I had a problem and someone responded to me in a decent amount of time. Last year, I tried to upgrade my 2001 student version to ProE Wildfire 4. I was told the 2001 version of the software does not qualify for an upgrade; so I should purchase a new license. I did by purchasing the ProE Wildfire 4.0 and after several installation difficulties I was able to install it. But then the program wouldn't work properly on the laptop I had at that time (Dell 1525) because the graphics card in the 1525 is not capable of handling proE adequately. As a result, I could hardly use the software. I purchased a new laptop with adequate nvidia quadro graphics that can handle pro E.When I tried to transfer my proE wildfire 4.0 license from my old computer to my new computer, I was told that I couldn't transfer the license; I had to purchase a new license. I did, and now I can't install it! I am downloading the DVD as mentioned in the posts to see if I can install it. This has not been a very pleasant experience.
Marcien.
Update: I downloaded the DVD as suggested in the posts, unzipped and was able to install the program. So far, it seems to be working but I can't get access to the tutorials and other information on the welcome page. Most of the items come up saying there is an error in the script on this page or I am not authorized to access the information on the page. I'm not sure if there's anything else on the DVD that I should install. I wonder why - could not respond to the numerous emails I sent them and give me this simple information to solve my problem! And I wonder why PTC is still selling this software as it is when they know that there is a problem with the installation. Thank you planetptc. Had it not been for these posts, I wouldn't have been able to resolve my problem.
Marcien,
I'm sorry about your installation problems and the lack of response from -. There were some issues with this e-mail last week and unfortunatly, this resulted in some e-mails not being returned. Typically those emails are answered in less than 24 hours. Regarding the web install, it works for many users and not for others, this is why the download of the DVD was made available. We are trying to fix this in the next release.
In regard to the tutorials and other information, I will need more specifics from you. As a Student customer, you will not have access to all content at PTC.com as most of this was developed for and is only available to our commercial customers. I have checked the page this morning and not received any script errors.
If you are looking for training resources, you could get started at ptcschools.com, this page has links to content that is made available to our K12 customers. Another source would be to purchase the eLearning Libray for Creo Elements/Pro, this gives you access to the same materials that are purchased and used by our commercial customers.

Adam
Hi Adam,
Thanks for your response. I am happy now because the DVD solved the installation problems and the program successfully installed and works as expected. I'm guessing that the script errors that I had at the beginning was due to the fact that I did not restart my computer after the installation before running the program for the first time. After I restarted my computer, I did not receive any more script error messages and so far the program has been working properly as it's ecpected to do. I was really frustrated last week when I couldn't install pro E and I couldn't get any help from -. I'm glad the DVD is made available to address this problem; but it would be nice if this information is communicated to custormers at the time of purchase. If I had this information at the time of my first installation attempt, I believe I wouldn't have all the frustrations and headaches that I had.
Thanks,
Marcien.
Chris,
Sorry you're having problems with the installation. Since you've emailed to a couple email addresses and posted to this forum I'll post a response here and email you also.
As a note to everyone reading this, all installation problems for Student or Personal editions should be emailed to -. Issues with Schools editions should be emailed to -. An email to these addresses will be responded to within 2 business days but in most cases, less than 24 hours.
Your post states that you did download the DVD (http://apps.ptc.com/schools/WF5_Student_DVD.zip) but when you double-click the setup.exe file, nothing happens. Are you getting an error message? Have you disabled your fire wall? Do you have permissions on your computer to install?
As stated above in this post, some users have difficulty with the web install but after downloading the DVD image, everything works correctly. If you still can't get it installed, please email us at - and well work through it with you.
Again, I apologize for issues you've had getting it installed.
Regards,
Adam
Hi Chris,
It seems as if you didn't unzip the DVD image file after downloading it that's why nothing happens when you click on set up to install it. To unzip, rght click on the zip file and select "Extract To". Choose a folder to extract it to (make note of the folder; easiest is to extract to desktop so you can quickly find it). Now click on "setup" in the extacted files and you should be able to install it. this is what worked for me. I hope this helps you.
Hi All,
Trying to download the past 4 days. Finally got it done after 4 hours, and the zip file has an invaild path.
Help!
Kenneth,
It appears that your download was not successful. Did you use a download manager to assist in the download? If you install Free Download Manager, it will enable you to stop and restart the download as well as better ensure you don't end up with a corrupt file when you're done.
If this doesn't help, please contact the Academic Support Team here:

I'm looking for some advice installing the student edition. Similar to everyone here my install is stopping at 1%.
£115 for two days of total frustration. Why can't these software installs just be simple?
Please advise
