We are chugging along and are a little stuck on step 2.1.5 in the process workflow:
Thanks!
2.1.5 | Using provided CAD models, place the major components in your aircraft fuselage to make sure there is room | •Scalable fuselage CAD model in Creo | Webinar 3: Engineering Design and Aeronautical Performance Factors |
Solved! Go to Solution.
Please see the following responses:
1. CAD files for sensors and other payloads are not provided because the sensors come in so many shapes and sizes. Teams are expected to design their own sensors CAD files based on their selections and fit them in the CAD files of the aircraft models.
2. Attaching in CREO would be sufficient. But you are welcome to go in further detail if you wish. Showing the mounting mechanism is not required.
3. The presentation files for webinars are not made available. The best thing to do it to review those video files and ask if you have any specific questions.
Thanks

Hey thanks!! I appreciate the quick response.
However, it leads me to even more questions:
1. There is no set expectation for the functionality of the .prt files. In other words, as long as you show the camera and other sensors of your choice attached to the vehicle, you should be all set. But that should not limit you from going above and beyond the minimum expectations.
2. For the state challenge, you will not be performing CAD simulations - CAD files will most likely be static models for the look and feel of your design. The various sensors on the vehicle in CAD files will help the judges understand that your team thought about where these parts are going to be located, their field of view, any obstructions they might face or other limitations taken into consideration. Location of these sensors will also have implication on the weight and balance calculations.
Hope that helps!
