For those of you in Week 1 Regionals, how did it go? What did you learn? How did your robots fare?
Our team participated in the inaugural local Central Illinois Regional, which was full with a full complement of 40 robots - and of them only one rookie team.
Woodie Flowers was in town for the kick off, which was great. I was able to represent PTC at the breakfast meeting with Woodie and many Cat executives (Cat is a sponsor of many teams in the area). PTC had at least 3 sponsored teams in attendance (including us).
We were as high as 7th in qualifying, but ended up in the middle teens after 3 losses the 2nd day. We were picked on the 6th seed alliance and won through to the finals against the #1 alliance (who hadn't lost a match yet and had an OPR of something like double ours).
We won 140-something to 70-something in the first match. Lost by a narrow margin in the 2nd. Then lost by 9 in the 3rd. So we ended up 2nd. A great job by all the students, I'm proud of them.
We have some work to do before the next regional. If you have not built a tough robot then you need to think about strategy, modifications, or both.

FRC 2907, Auburn Mountainview Lion Robotics had a good run in Washington Oregons First District meet held in our school. Our team finished second in qualifications and First in Finals. The finals against FRC 3383 Horns of Havic, FRC 2557 Sota, and FRC 4472 was exciting. Our picks for our team, FRC 2046 Bear Metal, and 3237 Bionic Braves. The second match resulted in our shooter being pulled out of its brackets, with our time out expiring, we had the robot assembled and ready to go, but not tested with our drive station. Our oponents showed gracious professionalism to the extreme in calling a time out of their own to allow us time to check the drive station connection. Thank you Horns of Havic, Sota, and Optimistic Skyz. Looking forward to our next district event. We also won the Industrial Award.
