Importing Step Files w/zero mass
A connector manufacturer sent us a step files which have zero mass and appear to have been created with surfaces. How can I import these as solid models, with the correct units, density and mass? I also need these imported step files to appear correctly in the assembly model and drawing as if they are modeled. Should the settings in the import settings windows be changed? If so, which settings and what should they be changed to? Thanks.

Hi,
I tested step open in Creo 9.0
GMPM2-D112P-SB.STEP
GMPM2-G103P-SB.STEP
- both files were open as solid part automatically
790-027sb-9mep_sw1.stp
790-027sk-9p9mes_sw1.stp
790-036ph-29p7msa_sw1.stp
- all files were opened as surface models ... a repair in IDD would be probably laborious
- I suggest you request files in other formats
- I guess these models were originally created as assemblies in Solidworks
