Issue with Creo File Saving Location and Error Messages After Moving Files
Hello,
I am currently working with Creo Parametric (Educational Edition version 11) and encountered an issue regarding the default file-saving location. After creating a few models, I found that files were being saved to C:\Users\<username>\OneDrive\Documents instead of the folder I selected in This PC\Documents. To resolve this, I moved all the Creo files from OneDrive to a new folder located at C:\Users\<username> and updated my working directory settings in Creo accordingly.
After doing so, I deleted the OneDrive folder from C:\Users\<username>. However, when I relaunched Creo, I received error messages (image uploaded), even though everything appears to be working properly—I can create new models and edit existing ones without issues.
Could you provide guidance on how to fix this issue or if there's anything I missed in the process? Should I expect any future problems as a result of these error messages, or is this something I can safely ignore?
Thank you for your time and assistance.

Hey, I found that I don’t have the 'buw' folder in my working directory. Previously, I had it in my OneDrive folder but didn’t know it was important for Creo; I thought it would create those files automatically. I found the 'buw' folder on my friend’s PC and in my school systems as well. It contains IFX and AFX files. Will copying that folder to my working directory fix the IFX issue? Also, what’s the other error message? What is a trail file, and where can I find it?
Hi,
test adding following option into config.pro
intelligent_fastener_enabled no
If error disappears then it is related to IFX. After completing the test, remove the above option again.
Also you can try solution used in Creo 10.0. No guarantee that it will solve the problem
Copy the files "_ifx_start_mdl.cfg", "ifx_options.xml", "ifx_pin_data.cfg", "ifx_screw_data.cfg" from <Creo Parametric load point>\<Creo Version>\Common Files\ifx\configuration directory to C:\Users\<user name>\Documents\buw\IFX\11.0 directory.
Note: I do not know what is the contents 'buw' folder on friend’s PC. Therefore I do not know if copying of this directory will solve the problem. If you copy it, it probably won't break anything.

Hi,
check Start in field in Creo startup shortcut properties.
Also add following option at the end of config.pro file.
file_open_default_folder working_directory

Thanks! I made the edits as per your instructions. I updated the 'Start in' field, but had a hard time finding the config.pro file. I found it in PTC\Creo 11.0.0.0\Common Files\text and edited it. However, when I started Creo, I got the same errors again. I restarted my PC and tried starting Creo again, but the errors are still there.

Hey, thanks a lot! First, I added intelligent_fastener_enabled no to config.pro, opened Creo, and it worked! I checked the working directory, and there were three new trail files. Then, I closed Creo and removed that line. When I reopened it, the error message came back.
I checked the working directory again, and this time there were two more trail files. I added the text back to config.pro, opened Creo, and it worked again. This added one more trail file to the working directory, but only one this time. When I removed the text again, the error showed up again. So I left it in this time and reopened Creo. The error message didn’t show up anymore.
After that, I tried the second step. I copied the IFX files into a new IFX folder inside a Documents folder I had to create in OneDrive. I didn’t have the usual Documents folder on my PC, so I created one inside OneDrive. Other folders like Videos and Music work without needing to be in OneDrive, but I couldn’t access Documents without doing this.
When I launched Creo again, the error messages were gone. I also noticed that Creo creates a trail file in the working directory every time I open it. Is this normal, or is it some kind of bug?
I checked the working directory and the Documents folder, and there was one more trail file in the working directory. Also, Creo created an AFX folder inside the buw folder in Documents. Shouldn’t this buw folder be in the working directory instead of Documents?

Hi,
1.] trail files
---
Creo creates new trail file when you start new session.
1st Creo session creates trail.txt.1
2nd Creo session creates trail.txt.2
and so on ...
To see numerical extensions in File Explorer you have to set following option.
---
You can delete trail files when no Creo session is running.
If you want to save trail files in specific directory, use trail_dir config.pro option
2.] OneDrive
---
In my Windows 10 I do not have OneDrive application installed. This means I do not use OneDrive and I do not know how Creo can work with OneDrive.
