Opening Sketches

We are having a problem opening sketches and being able to continue our work. We have found out that in order to open a sketch, we must first set our working directory, open a new sketch, open sketch from the menu bar, open data from file, file system and then the file. Is this the correct process?? Half of the time we do this, we have some command that cannot be used because they don't become active (i.e. Use).

Existing sketches are easily opened for editing. Find the sketch in the model tree, move the mouse cursor over the entry and right mouse click. From the floating menu select Edit Definition. The sketch will open with sketcher toolbar on the right of the screen. After making changes click on blue check mark in sketcher toolbar to close sketch and return to 3D mode. Note: if the sketch (parent) removes detail or features that are later relied on (children), they may fail due to lost 'references'. For example, the starting point is an extruded hex prism with rounds on the six long edges. The hex sketch is changed to a square. When the sketch is closed the model is regenerated and the rounds (children) fail as the solid has two missing edges. Editing the round feature and removing the two missing edges will resolve the problem.
