With the release of FIRST Tech Challenge game Velocity Vortex and the related SDK updates, it is clear it is time to move students down the path of exploring vision software. Thanks to the availability and integration of Vuforia with the SDK, progress has already begun.
Here you see our team, Dynamic Signals (7351), first attempt at testing the basic feature set. Pretty exciting for the team. While reports say that others are getting about 6 feet of visual reference, our team after moving to the Moto G3 and Marshmallow have found we can see the vision objects clear across the entire 12 foot field. Next up is integration of drive algorithms to the associated values we are acquiring from the Vuroria vision objects.
Can't wait to see where the team takes this new capability. Share your experiences as well. We would particularly like to hear about success rates with scanning field elements and utilizing this information for game play.

Wow, nice work! Its great to see you were able to get this up and running. I am sure the vision controls in this year's FTC game will make for some exciting competitions.

There's lots of good ideas for vision recognition this season. It will be great to see robots able to recognize features on the field this season!
