Is PTC Mathcad prime 3.0 compatible with windows sharepoint services 3.0?

My engineers are able to upload MCDX files to sharepoint (Windows Sharepoint Services 3.0) but when they try to edit them, they open in Internet Explorer instead of Mathcad.  They tell me that the MCDX files are xml files.  Is this causing the problem?  Does anyone know of a way to correct this?

Thanks

One of our engineers found a solution to this question.  Here is how to do it:

How to open/Edit a Mathcad file that is stored in SharePoint

To edit a Mathcad file from a SharePoint document library:

  1.  Locate the file in SharePoint.

  2.  Check out the file:

  •               Mouse over the file name in the "Name" column and click the down-arrow that appears.
  •               Select "Check Out".

  3.  Click on the file name in the “Name” column.  The file will open in the Mathcad program.

  4.  Make your changes.

  5.  Save the file using the disk icon or “File/Save”.

  6.  “Check In” the file by mousing over the name of the file in the “Name” column, clicking the down-arrow that appears and selection "Check In".

To view a Mathcad file from a SharePoint document Library:

  1. Locate the file in SharePoint.
  2. Mouse over the file name in the “Name” column and select “Sent To”, then “Download a copy”.
  3. On the “Open/Save/Cancel” dialog that opens, choose “Open”.
  4. The file will now open with the Mathcad program.

Hope this helps.
