Customer Input and Hard Work- Building Mathcad Prime 2.0, part 1

In today's Mathcad blog post, "Customer Input and Hard Work- Building Mathcad Prime 2.0, part 1, you can read about the development of Mathcad Prime 2.0. In this post, I have a conversation with Jakov Kucan, Mathcad's Director of Software Development. He discusses the story behind building Mathcad Prime 2.0, the goals for the software, and how the team behind Mathcad was able to accomplish them. Here is an excerpt:

"Jakov explained, “After evaluating the current user base, their needs, and then studying existing worksheets, these five elements were the obvious priorities for our users. We not only wanted to meet these needs, but also go above and beyond the equivalent features in old Mathcad platforms. We wanted the capability and usability to be polished and powerful.”

Jakov went on to give me some nice examples of how they accomplished this goal. “3D plots are more flexible. You can enter data in a number of ways, they are more uniform, and plotting takes less time. The Excel integration component allows you to integrate your worksheet with a whole Excel document, making the data flow more transparent and easier to see and follow.”
