Installing MathCad on mac

Hi!

I tried to install MathCad by using Wine (through Homebrew). I have successfully opened the .exe file and went half way through the installation process. When I come to the point of downloading MathCad and microsoft .NET framework setup files, the programme freezes. I re-tried it multiple times, always freezes just with different percentage of downloaded files.
What can I do? Is there any other way how to get to the MathCad on mac?

What version and type of Mathcad are you installing?

Note that Mathcad (the real Mathcad, by MathSoft) exists since somewhere in the past century and has seen versions from 1 to 15. More then 10 years ago PTC acquired MathSoft, developed Mathcad 14 and 15, before it decided it was time for something completely different and started developing a product they call mathcad Prime.

And Prime so far has seen versions 1, 2, 3, 3.1, 4, 5 and 6.

I know there are, or have been, working installations of Mathcad 11 on a mac, using Wine.

So, what are you trying to install?

I tried to install MathCad Prime 6. Do you think I should try with older version?

I guess (and it's just a guess) that if Prime 6 will not install under Wine, you'll have the same problem with any other version of Prime. Wine with or without a mac, is NOT listed as one of the supported platforms for Prime 6 (or 5).

Do you have a license for any of the older versions of Prime?... Guess not (and again, that's just a guess).

What I know for sure is, that if you have a license for Prime 6 (or any other version of Prime), that very same license allows you to install Mathcad 15. Mathcad 15 differs not as much from Mathcad 11 as it differs from Prime.

You may want try your luck with Mathcad 15. Note that mathcad 15 is supported under Windows 7, 8.1 and the most recent update (M050) is also supported under Windows 10. No mentioning of Wine, but that also applies to Mathcad 11...

Success!

You can download Mathcad 15 here:

http://download.ptc.com/products/mathcad/trial/mc15/Mathcad15_EN.zip

Since I am a student I'm trying first to use it as a free trial version.
I have tried Mathcad 15 and there was no success. I got an error on MSI installation. I searching now for the Mathcad 11 to download it. Otherwise I will have to find another way to get MathCad.

Thank you for your help!

Why on earth are you trying to get a windows application working on a non supported OS? How can you possibly expect a company to support that. I have never even heard of wine. I suggest you do what I do to use a Mac, install bootcamp on your hard drive partition so you have a true supported windows installation. Also install the latest os which is windows 10
