Mathcad 12 migrating to new computer.

Mathcad 12 migrating to new computer. I've been using mcad 12 with xp just fine. Do i need a patch to run on Vista. (yes, I have set to run as administrator xpsp2 compatibility and all that.) the splash shows up for a few seconds and disapppears.

MC12 + Vista = bad news.

I forget all the details (too many MC versions and too many OS versions to keep track of all the combinations!), but you can probably find a lot of relevant posts by searching the forums. There is no patch for 12 to address the incompatibility problems.

Why are you switching to Vista anyway? Why not Windows 7?

Isn't version 12 considered to be a poor version? Why not look at upgrading?

mcad 12 working on vista.

installed 12.1.

set to run as administrator; diable visual themes; disable desktop composition; disable display scaling for good measure

ran mathcad several times with errors, shutting itself down repeatedly.

kept at it until the "repair" dialog came up.

after the second "repair" routine, everything is fine.

make sure firewall is off for licensing. runs ok now with firewall on.

limping along on archaic system and software.

just using it for kid's homework, not work right now.

thanks for the interest and advice.
