Recently I encountered a problem with Mathcad13. When I tried to launch Mathcad13, on my workstation, either from the start menu or the desktop icon nothing happened. I then tried on my portable computer and had the same problem.
IAfter checking virius protection and and removing and re installing Mathcad 13 I had the same problem .
Because of an immediate need to use some mathcad srograms I loaded Mathcad 13 into an old commputer and it worked perfectly. Note the computer was not connected on the internet and did not have virus protection. My immediate problem was solved but my main computers did not work.
I searched
on Google " cannot load Mathcad13" and found a number of people encountered the same problem, but, no one provided a solution.The deeper I dug the more people had the same problem. I tried getting help from PTC and am sorry to say that all I got was a run around from one person to another. I asked for a name or number that I could call and pay to get help. All I got was disappointment in spades. After many hours, more truthfully days, I gave up and tried the Geek Squad.
After a few hours of work the Geek Tech discovered the problem. The following is what he found.
A CDilla driver is required to start the Mathcad 13 program.
. The driver had been diabled recently on both computers. He re-enabled them nd booted and Mathcad 13 worked pefectly. I use Webrood virus protection. Recently I updated to the latest version. Apparently when I installed the latest version it disabled CDilla with the resulting problem. The bad part is Webroot does not show that it disabled the CDilla.
To correct the problem follow this procedure
- Click the start button.
- Click Run
- In the run box type "services.msc" (no quotations.
- In the list find "C-DillaCdaC11BA"
- Double click on it and it will open another window and you will see "StartupType"
- Use the drop down window to make sure it is set to automatic
- Restart the computer .
All is well and Mathcad 13 is again operating.
Hope this is a help to other victims.
I have been using Mathcad from its early versions. It is a truly valuable program. I understand that PTC has discontinued maintaining it. However they should have some paid resource that can help its devoted users. People like myself have written hundreds of engineering solutions and are totally dependent on Mathcad working.
PTC should get with it and prominently display a phone number that will lead directly to a paid tech to help with such problems. When PTC took over mathcad they screwed the devoted Mathcad users
