Mathcad- A Better Choice for Engineering Calculations

Check out the latest Mathcad blog post by John Sheehan, a Technical Fellow of Mathcad at PTC, titled "Mathcad- A Better Choice for Engineering Calculations." This blog post takes you through some of the value in spreadsheet software and also explains how Mathcad can deliver more of the things you need for complex engineering calculations. Here is an excerpt:

"if you were to list the needs of an engineer in regards to a calculations tool, you would probably end up with something like this:

- Fast and accurate calculation engine
- Easy to enter equations
- Known methodology for math expressions
- Ability to share calculations with others for reuse or for validation
- Advanced math abilities such as systems of equations, optimization, calculus, and symbolic math
- Embedded scientific visualization techniques

This is a quick list but probably satisfies a good cross section of the calculation needs in a number of engineering disciplines. Let’s hold Excel up against this basic needs list and see what the judges say on a scale of 1 to 10…"
