Mathcad Excel add-in problem

Hello, I'm new to the community.

I am looking for help with the Mathcad Excel add-in. I downloaded the add-in. When I went to put it into Excel through the options menues I got a number of error windows and a request for a password. I have Mathcad 13, so first, do I have an incompatibility right off the bat? If not, any help would be most appriciated. The on-line help tool won't accept me because I do not have 14 or higher.

Thanks

Did you have Excel 2003 before you upgraded and did it work?

I never had Mathcad 13 so take my comments with a pinch of salt, but I'm sure Mathcad 14 was the first version to be fully compatible with Excel 2007.

What version of Excel do you have?

Hi Mike,

I have 2007. I just got on for the first time yesterday, wrote my question then went looking. I see that many folks have had the same issue, but I don't believe I saw a definite answer in the other strings.

Sure hope you can help, thanks.

After installation and setting the Excel Tools::Add-ins::tick-MathCAD, then you can see the system information which says.

To use the Mathcad Add-in for Excel, you must have the following installed on your machine:

  • Excel 2000 or higher
  • Mathcad 14 or higher

Notes:

If you are using Excel 2000, you must have Service Release 1 or higher. Go to Microsoft's Web site to obtain this service release.

If you are running multiple versions of Mathcad on your computer, make sure that Mathcad 14 is the active Mathcad application before installing the add-in.

To make Mathcad 14 the active Mathcad application, launch and then exit Mathcad 14.

Take heed of the notes.....

Philip

PS I haven't actually tested my download yet, but at least it started OK, and the help [?] icon worked!

PPS this is a duplicate of my entry on the other thread; and I hate the editor and its inability to copy & paste <angry>

Thanks Phillip.

I've been known to miss the fine print.

Try it...

The Ctrl C copies OK . You can test the copying by pasting to say Notepad, (note that the clipboard keeps copies of the item in multiple formats)

But Ctrl V doesn't paste it into the thread reply editor. You ( I ) have to change the editor (the HTML button) and paste it in there, where upon the <p> bits are not present in the bit one pastes in (so you have to re-enter them manually). The editor doen't recognise that the clipboard has suitably formatted text for pasting and offers no option for pasting.

Philip

Philip,

I just copied your previous message and pasted it into a new reply, with no problems. I used Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V for paste.

Here's your original message that I pasted including the faces.

Maybe I have happy fingers.

Mona,

I have just gotten a little lost looking around this forum and this isn't the first time this has happened.

I see you have changed the reply title to 'Copying and Pasting into replies' from the original thread name. I am very surprised that the thread name changes on the main page.

Do you not this this undermines the original thread? If I was new and looking through the forum at the latest posts how would I know that this thread is related to a Excel add-in issue?

Mike

Mike,

Sorry for any confusion. I was responding to Philip's message that he couldn't copy and paste a message from another thread into this one. That issue and my reply that it was possible, have nothing to do with Excel Add-in, so I changed the title. I also changed it so anyone else having issues of copying into messages could find it.

Best,

Mona

Thinking about it that's quite a nice feature. Saves burying valuable information in threads which have titles with no relevance.

It seems to work for me as does Ctrl z if I want to undo something.

Thanks Mike.

I figureed it would come down to spending more money.

Thanks Mike.

No problem.

I figureed it would come down to spending more money.

It always does - saying that my employer pays for it so I'm ok.
