Plotting tri-angles

Plotting tri-angles

Has anyone got a simple example of plotting tri-angles?

When using trigonometry I find it a little pedantic drawings the shape in Excel and either manually updating the drawing or passing numbers through Mathcad to Excel.

Cheers in advance.

Yes.

It's that simple I feel stupid asking the question.

Cheers

Mike

Perhaps generalizing the problem will make you feel less stupid

Quite right !

I had doubt it was "Triangles" whereas Mike wrote "Tri-angles"

Smart enough, I replied on both !

It might have been also the unsolved "Trisection of the angle"

Trisection ... Tri-angles ??? !!! ???

Cheers Richard.

That is defiantly another worksheet to be documented.

That is defiantly another worksheet to be documented.

It was meant as a brief tutorial on how to draw geometry in graphs. If you want some canned routines then the worksheet "Triangle Circle.mcd" that Jean posted is Tom's worksheet on geometric plotting. I would give a link to the original thread, but I can't find it. That worksheet has better thought out functons than my quick attempt, and is much more comprehensive.

Simple is good at the moment. I have been trying to improve my Mathcad knowledge over the past couple of years, but graphing must be my weakest section. Even your worksheet is past my current capabilities.

Once I have mastered your sheet I will more onto more complicated examples.

Cheers for the advice

Richard, Mike,

The work sheet "Triangle, Circle" is the untouched Tom's original.

If I do very little on collab work sheet, the first change would be

the font for TNR [Tahoma, can't read]. That work sheet is very

interesting but so hairy for so little practical. This kind of

maths does not match the traditional analytical maths from

books. I'm not saying they are wrong, just that the conversion

and adaptation to numerical CAS is not very visible, unless one

wants to dedicate his life to triangulation. And that's nothing

much in real Engineer life. I had demanded many time the

"Mathcad advisor" [not to avail] to get the "Delaunay triangulation",

an everyday tool in many engineering branches. Delaunay would

be a perfect application for Tom type of maths.

Richard,

Zip, codes the compaction for text only, of which text there is

so little in a work sheet that the saving in size is totally negligible.

Very many useless clicks to read the zipped file form PTC ! then it

re-opens a new session of Mathcad or the same but via all the

steps of a new session [pure waste of time].

At this point you have waited and navigated for the birds. If you do

some work on the collab work sheet, THEN you can't close the

zip back because Mathcad asks "Do you want to save changes",

If you say YES, it offers only in Mathcad versions and no other

file types . So, at this point again and if you want to return the

helped matters you can only save to a new or other directory.

The PTC zip can't be worked on, then saved and and returned

directly. That's how it works in Mathcad 11 single user, XP-SP2

home edition . The PTC Mathcad zip is a crazy/stupid idea.

They haven't even tried sitting in a bar next door .

Most if not all web sites today are of the PTC community style.

NONE is so slow by itself, and none does slow down Mathcad .

What's wrong with the designers ? Can't they bottle the hay

like others have done ?

To make it clear, they have overloaded the budget designing

this miserable web community. Now you will never hear from

them again, thus leaving quick collaboration/help/on-line tutorial

an unviable fact and consequence. On the top of that, this new

web community is very slow vs any other sites ... I have high

speed from the repeating box < 200 m away from my door !

Akiva on low speed was about as fast as high speed for me,

but that huge monster PTC community if on low speed would

never open. They never imagined that lot of users can't have high

speed, because of the distribution... I'm sure even in the USA !

Some items are comfortable and inviting, but the majority is

unattractive of 0 double/triple 0 ergonomics. Accordingly to

the most recent survey from Wiki, all screen have only 96 PPI

resolution [except one IBM 104]. and the human eye needs at

least 300 for comfort ... then, their miserable colors/contrast

renders the reading very difficult, adding supplementary effort

and incomfort that no one is willing to damage his life for so

little consideration and no replies. The designers have evaporated

in the blue, seemingly for good . Even that compobox, how is it

going to appear with the indenting ... indenting , what's that for ?

Yes, the zip files are irritating, and are not necessary for either .mcd or .xmcdz files (they are necessary for the bloated .xmcd files, but people shouldn't post in that format anyway!). I have asked that the requirement that they be zipped be dropped. Since pdf files are not zipped I assume that is possible, but I have not been told when or even if this will be changed for other file types.

Jean

Thanks for sharing the worksheets - some fantastic work inside.

Maybe a little above my current Mathcad capabilities, but cheers anyway.

On another note. It is possible to calculate the angles of the tri-angle and display them on the graph?

Yes but now you are in real geometry rather than quick.

So much I have posted on that in Akiva !

Maybe you should reconsider Steen "Geogebra" .

Yes, in principle. It's a lot more work though. Calculating the angles and plotting the arcs is not so hard, put putting text on the graph is a lot more tricky. If you really want to draw text on graphs you should take a look at this book:

"Has anyone got a simple example of plotting tri-angles ?" [Mike]

Mike,

You will understand why I can't return my supplementary

suggestions on Fred work sheet . Only projects that

have interest and/or in good enough shape will be attended.

The *.zip is not viable for work sheets exchange.

Personal time or company time is not infinite, This added

suggestions "Tri-angle" would have taken almost no time

to repost in Akiva, now I have spent 1hr explaining why

you can't be hepled more than an image, which image

is in fact not needed as it is in the work sheet.

Hope the *.zip is returned to work sheet.

PTC community is discussion only

but not "Mathcad work sheets collaboration"

Why is the zip file such a problem?
