dividing a polynomial by a minomial

i got stuck on some problems i really did not know what to !
for example
(10x+20y)divide by 5
what do i do first and how do i do it?

This is an application of the distributive property over division, which is that dividing a sum by a number is equivalent to dividing the individual parts by the same number and adding the result. This is an extension of the same property over multiplication, since division by 5 is the same as multiplication by 1/5.

(10x+20y)/5 = (10x+20y)*1/5 = 10x*1/5+20y*1/5
=2x+4y
