Creo fundamentals of solid modeling 1 exercise 1 task 7 ptc

tutorial states simply to click the PTC icon and the learning connector will open in the drawing- it does not do that for me. Probably new user error but limiting and frustrating just the same

Hi!

Hmm, I'm looking at this exercise and task, and I, too, am seeing a problem. Let me make sure my problem is the same as your problem.

In Exercise 1, Task 7, the instructions want you to click the graduation cap at the top-right of the Creo UI:

That opens a separate panel with Learning Connector inside of it. For some reason in the VM it looks like the Learning Connector panel is opening, as you can see it in the task bar:

However, when I click on it in the task bar nothing is happening - that is, it's not displaying on the desktop.

Is this the problem you're getting?

Regards,

Matt

yes! Exactly! Would potentially be a good tool for a completely new user that struggling

Okay, great that I'm able to duplicate the issue you're seeing!

First, we're opening a call with AWS to try and figure out a resolution to what's happening because this is NOT happening in the builder that actually generates the image you're using.

For some reason, in the VM image there are multiple "Windows". At the top of the VM desktop, if you click Windows you'll see that there are multiple windows in the VM, which kind of seem like separate desktops to me:

If you look at my image above you'll see that the Learning Connector panel is (for some reason) opening in a separate window. If I click on that "Window" to activate it, however, the Learning Connector (LC) panel still doesn't display.

What I've noticed is if you click Dual monitor at the top of the VM desktop this launches a 2nd AWS monitor window, and you'll actually see the LC panel in that 2nd monitor window. Now if you click Dual monitor again to toggle it off, this forces the LC panel over the top of Creo Parametric like this:

What is SUPPOSED to happen is that when you click the Graduation Cap icon, the LC panel is supposed to open on the far right side of the desktop, and Creo is supposed to shrink in width on the right to account for the LC panel, resulting in them being side-by-side, like this:

So, until we figure out this fix with AWS you can use this clunky workaround to get the LC panel to display over your Creo Parametric window, and then you can manually manipulate Creo and the LC panel so that they're next to each other.

I apologize for this subpar experience that you're having - it's certainly nothing you're doing wrong!

As and when we can get a fix from AWS I'll apply it and circle back here to let you know when it's working properly.

Regards,

Matt
