I cant figure out how to get my model orientated like this
My model after I hit sketch view
My sweep is failing and I assume it is because I am not placing the sketch correctly.
Hi Amber,
There can be several reasons for sweep failures. When you create a feature and it fails to regenerate, there is a notification center that appears in the bottom right corner of the screen (there is a red flag icon). You can expand that to see information on your specific feature failure. However, from the perspective of addressing the orientation:

I'm having problems orientating it. My arrows are in a different direction when I start the sweep and I don't understand why.

Hi Amber,
Most of the time the differences are based on how you select entities (the orientation, the order of selection, etc.). The easiest way around this it to try changing the origin and direction of the sweep trajectory. You can find tips and tricks on how to do this in the notes of your training guide:
Amber:
To select a tangent chain-type trajectory, follow these steps:
Left mouse click the ark shape trajectory edge
Select SHIFT from the keyboard.
Hover your mouse over the straight portion; when you have the whole trajectory highlight, left mouse click to select.
You can also change side and direction by left-clicking the magenta-colored arrows in the graphic window.
I tried that, but I can't get it to go "out", it just goes up and down (from the orientation in the previous picture). I also don't know why I have Origin and Chain 1 where the video only has Origin.
Bassam's response outlines the steps to achieve that single trajectory you are seeking. You can find additional info regarding trajectory selection on the next pages of your training guide:
I wasn't able to get it to work and I ran out of time. When I clicked on the arrows, they would just go up and down and not right and left.
I messed with some of the other options and this is as close as I got, but nowhere near right.
I guess I will try again tomorrow.
Yeah - give it another shot!
You are getting that result because of your trajectory selection. Creo treats the arc and line segment portions of the edge as separate entities even though they are adjacent. You will see this a lot when dealing with circles as you will notice selecting the edge of a circular object (such as the edge of a cylindrical extrude feature) will initially only select one half. In some cases selecting only of two adjacent edges does not matter (for instance rounds and chamfers will often propagate around adjacent edges). However, this is not the case with sweep trajectories, and you must be explicit with the trajectory path.
In this case, when you are selecting the two adjacent entities, select one, then hold Shift, then select the second entity. Doing so will adjust the selection to one single chain as opposed to two separate and distinct (although adjacent) entities. Doing this will allow you to proceed with the rest of the task.
pls disregard i meant to reply to the original post
I took the class today and ran into the same error. When selecting the edges, I was clicking CTRL and not SHIFT by mistake. If you use the SHIFT key when making selections, it treats the edges as a single entity rather than a chain. It drove me nuts until I figured this out.
